Beaulieu-sur-Mer
Located just 3km around the bay from Saint Jean Cap Ferrat the pretty town of Beaulieu sur Mer is a bright bustling town with two ports and a range of shops and restaurants as well as a casino. One of the most distinctive sights is the waterfront Villa Kerylos, built for the famous French archaeologist Thomas Reinarch in the early 1900’s. Architecturally based on the villas of Ancient Greece, it is now a museum displaying Greek sculpture, mosaics and frescoes.
Villefranche-sur-Mer
Situated around the bay between Cap Ferrat and Nice, Villefranche sur Mer is the most visited cruise ship port in France thanks to the deep waters around its bowl-like cove and central position on the Cote d’Azur. The town is built on terraces up the steep hill around the port, and the stairs and alleys which divide the buildings often run directly underneath the houses, which creates a unique atmosphere, especially when combined with the amazing views of the Mediterranean below.
Èze
10km away from Cap Ferrat in the direction of Monaco lies the picturesque town of Èze, which sits perched on top of a hill 427m above the sea, causing it to be often described as an ‘eagle’s nest’. The flower-adorned pedestrianised streets are lined with small arts and craft boutiques and lead up to the exotic gardens at the summit which as well as being home to a variety of cacti, trees and sculpture, offer a spectacular panorama across the sea all the way to Italy and Corsica.
