Although located at a lower altitude than many ski resorts (the village is located at 1,000m and the highest skiing can be found at 2,353m), Megève still provides good skiing opportunities. Together with Combloux, la Giettaz, Saint-Gervais, Saint Nicolas de Véroce and Les Contamines, Megève makes up the Evasion Mont Blanc, a very large skiing area he resort that offers approximately 200 pistes of different levels which cover over 400km of the Domaine Evasion Montblanc ski area and are served by more than 100 lifts to reach them.

Probably the only drawback is that Ddue to this fairly low altitude the ski season is generally shorter than other top locations, despite a sophisticated network of ski cannons. At the beginning and at the end of the season close by resorts like Chamonix can be reached with a 30min car drive.

Besides skiing there are plenty of other activities and Megève is well known for its golf course and surrounding hiking trails. For the less sporting the town has an extensive range of excellent boutiques, jewellers and art galleries and is often regarded as the culinary capital of the Alps thanks to its 80 restaurants, many of which overlook the stunning landscape of the Mont Blanc massif.
