Umbria
Transportation
By Air
Umbria does have its own airport called Aeroporto Sant' Egidio which is located near Perugia and deals mainly with domestic flights within Italy though there are a few international links to other European cities. The small airport at Foligno can be used for private charters while the main international hubs of Rome and Florence are also within a reasonably easy distance from the region.
By Train
There are several train lines that pass through Umbria although some of the smaller towns are inaccessible without a car. Rail connections link with the big cities of Rome, Milan, Florence and Bologna.
By Car
Travelling by car is easily the most convenient way of getting to and around Umbria. The A1 motorway connects Rome and Florence and passes right past Orvieto on the way. The A14 runs instead down the east coast of the peninsula with roads then passing through Le March to reach the eastern part of the region.
