Crans-Montana

Attractions & Activities

During the winter season there is no shortage of activites on offer. The area dedicated to skiing is large and stretches up to the Glacier de la Plaine Morte, which lies at an altitude of 3000m and offers a breathtaking view and the possibility of cross-country skiing.

Different pistes are available for different levels of skill; beginners will enjoy the wide, open runs while more advanced skiers can take the lift to La-Toula where they can find a terrain more suited to their capabilities. The descent towards the valley by the 12 km Piste Nationale, is particularly enjoyed by skiers as well as snowboarders who have their own separate run. Cross country skiers, meanwhile, can enjoy the snow covered golf courses.

As a drawback, at the beginning and at the end of the skiing season, the south-facing pistes are more vulnerable to strong sun and therefore during these periods there may be some snow coverage issues.

Crans-Montana also offers many activities during summer including hiking, tennis, squash, canyoning, waterskiing and even paragliding while up on the icy plateau of the Plaine Morte, there is snow right through the summer months. There are also five swimming lakes nearby and the idyllic landscape of mountain forests, perfect for hikes, completes the atmosphere of nature and well-being.
