Koninginnedag (30 Apr)

Koninginnedag, or Queensday, is the national holiday of the Netherlands and the official celebration of the Queen and the monarchy of the country. The occasion turn the city into an enormous street party with the inhabitants all dressing in Orange, the colour of the House of Orange-Nassau. Over the course of 24 hours there is eating, drinking, dancing and also visit the giant Vrijmarkt (flea market) which is held specially for the occasion. In the evening there is a huge party at The Hague, the Queen’s official residence. 

Holland Festival (June/July)

Known across the world, this is the largest festival of music and theatre in the Netherlands. All forms of artistic expression are represented and great dancers, choreographers and composers come together to perform. The event attracts many visitors each year as well as famous names who perform a rich programme of concerts, ballets, operas, theatre and cinema across different venues around both Amsterdam and the whole country.
